ANIMA MUNDI s/t CD

The first full length release from this band of Los Angeles anarcho-punks.  Musically this is 80's style UK peacepunk but with excellent modern production a sound that's heavy enough when need be. The lyrics are excellent socio-political commentaries that tear apart systemic inequalities and urge the listener into action. The vocal duties are shared among the band members and have both male and female parts - delivered in a style where the message is easily understood. The political outlook and tone are convincingly sincere and on a genuine, bullshit-free level. This is in the spirit of CONFLICT meets LOST CHERREES circa 1986, but updated for 2008 and with distinctly North American perspective. The packaging is a no-frills black and white digipack that includes a thick booklet of lyrics, graphics and commentary. Certainly a welcome counterpoint to a punk movement that has generally become apathetic and apolitical. Bravo!
