Dark-sounding Scandicrust is the best description for the debut EP from the Oslo, Norway, based HEVN. For the most part, the songs are mainly mid-tempo, metal-edged crust, sparsely broken up by the occasional faster parts, and with a female vocalist who alternates between pissed off singing and gutteral growls. The lyrics are in English and tackle current issues with a pretty gloomy and sometimes bitter edge. The packaging is very simple, yet well done and effective. All in all, this is well above the level expected for any band's debute release!
